Nestled along the picturesque coastline of Massachusetts is Cape Cod, a quintessential destination for a romantic couples weekend getaway. This charming peninsula is best known for its serene beaches, charming villages, and incredible seafood! There is endless terrain to explore for couples looking for a relaxing beach getaway, or for couples seeking adventure. Without a doubt, Cape Cod is a coastal loving couple’s dream destination!

Where to stay: Wequassett Resort and Golf Club

Things to do: explore the towns of Falmouth, Chatham, or Provincetown, rent a bike from Barb’s Bike Shop and cruise along the Cape Cod Rail Trail, stroll around the Heritage Museum and Gardens, visit the Nauset Lighthouse, have a drink on the lawn of Chatham Bars Inn, visit the Godfrey Windmill

Nantucket, MA

Nantucket is an island right off of the coast of Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and is a the ultimate unique yet romantic weekend getaway destination! Nantucket’s cobblestone streets and historic homes exude elegance and romance. There are so many picturesque places to explore. My favorite memories of Nantucket include wandering around and admiring the beautiful homes and sailboats along the coast. Where to stay: The White Elephant Hotel, Cliff Lodge

Things to do: wander around the downtown historic district, Sconset Bluff Walk, rent a bike from Easy Riders Bicycles and bike around the island, visit Brandt Point Lighthouse, lounge at Jetties or Surfside beaches, have a romantic dinner at Galley Beach

Newport, RI

Newport, Rhode Island is an absolute favorite for a romantic weekend getaway! Newport is situated along the coast of Rhode Island, and offers historic elegance with its Gilded Age mansions, sailboats, and coastal beauty. It is the perfect destination for couples of all ages, as there is something to enjoy for everyone. If you and your partner are foodies, there are loads of amazing restaurants with the best lobster rolls and clam chowder! One of my favorite restaurants is the Midtown Oyster Bar. The charming shops in town and sailboats along the water is the mix for a memorable, romantic weekend getaway.

Things to do: Cliff Walk, tour The Breakers mansion, have a drink on the lawn at The Safari Room, book a sailboat ride with Classic Cruises of Newport, watch the sunset at Castle Hill Lighthouse

Antigua and Barbuda

If you and your partner’s idea of a romantic getaway is lounging on a beach somewhere, a trip to the Caribbean Islands is the perfect romantic getaway for you! My favorite of the islands is Antigua, and it is only about a 4 hour flight from NYC, making it a great destination for a long weekend. Antigua is known for its crystal clear blue water and beautiful weather year-round. After spending your days lounging on the beach, your evenings will be filled making memories watching sunsets; an ideal romantic getaway destination! 

Where to stay: Sandals Grande Antigua (the perfect all-inclusive couples resort!)

Things to do: take a Hobie Cat or paddle board out on the water, book a candlelit dinner on the beach at Sandal’s Resort, visit Shirley Heights Lookout where you can have dinner or a drink and enjoy sunset views, spend the afternoon by the pool or ocean, go on a snorkeling adventure with turtles!

New York City

Somewhere between the bustling city streets lies a romantic weekend getaway in the heart of New York City. There are endless romantic activities in New York City, including strolls through Central Park, dining on rooftops with city light views, Broadway shows, and ice skating in the winter, or a day at a museum. Not only are there endless activities and sights to see, but New York is the perfect destination for foodies! New York City is one of my favorite places for a date night, as there are so many romantic restaurants, unique cafes, and rooftop bars to enjoy!

Where to stay: Hotel Barriere Fouquets

Things to do: stroll along Central Park, Bryant Park, or Washington Square Park, visit the Museum of Sex, Metropolitan Museum of Art, or MoMa, see a show on Broadway (Moulin Rouge is my favorite!), take a couples cooking class, catch a game at Yankee Stadium, admire the skyline from Summit One Vanderbilt, explore all of the cute cafes the city has to offer, have dinner at Le Coucou, one of the most romantic restaurants in the city!

Charlottesville, VA

Charlottesville has a combination of history, charm, and nature, making it all around one of my favorite romantic getaways in the US. It is known for award winning vineyards, historic attractions like Monticello, and not too far from Shenandoah National Park, a hiking lover’s dream! Charlottesville is one of my favorite weekend getaways because there is so much to do; you can start the morning with a scenic hike and finish the afternoon at an award winning winery. Things to do: tour the historic Monticello, walk around the downtown mall (one of the largest walking malls in the country!), hike at Shenandoah National Park, have a glass of wine at the beautiful Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards, watch the sunset at the summit of Humpback rocks, watch a polo match at King Family Vineyards

Lake Placid, NY

Lake Placid, New York is located in Upstate New York about 5 hours outside of New York City. Undoubtedly, it is a beloved destination during all four seasons, and is best known for its vibrant fall foliage and its incredible ski slopes in the winter! Lake Placid is the perfect destination for outdoor adventure loving couples. The town of Lake Placid is a cozy, charming village with plenty of activities, including ice skating, kayaking along the lake, exploring the Olympic museums, and of course, skiing Whiteface Mountain! The Finger Lakes, NY

The Finger Lakes in upstate New York is a tranquil and secluded region best known for its vineyards and lakes. It is one of the best couples getaway destinations in New York, as the scenery is stunning and the area is so peaceful. Not only are there beautiful lakes to enjoy, but The Finger Lakes is known for its scenic hiking trails and waterfalls. Not to mention, there is wine! The wineries are open all year round, and they’re just as pleasant to experience in the winter as they are the summer.

Things to do: Watkins Glenn State Park, hike at Taughannock Falls State Park, kayak along one of the many lakes, ski at Bristol Mountain, plan your visit to sip through the Seneca Lake Wine Trail
